Abstract
This issue includes four articles on topics related to economic and social development in Bolivia and Latin America. The first analyzes the evolution of educational opportunities in Bolivia between 2011 and 2021, highlighting the persistence of inequalities linked to gender, area of residence, parents’ educational level, and the work responsibilities of children and adolescents. The second examines the volatility of bank deposits in Bolivia and compares symmetric and asymmetric models to assess liquidity risk in financial intermediation institutions. The third examines the propensity of authoritarian governments and developing economies to participate in initiatives for de-dollarization and diversification of reserve currencies, highlighting their relationship with the BRICS bloc and the use of non-traditional currencies in international payments. Finally, the fourth article analyzes the use of instant QR payments in informal economic activities in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, highlighting their contribution to banking usage and commercial dynamism at the Barrio Lindo market. We express our deep gratitude to the members of the Internal Committee and the External Committee for their continued support in evaluating the journal’s articles. We would also like to express our gratitude to the Universidad Católica Boliviana “San Pablo” and the Hanns Seidel Foundation for providing the financial support that has made possible the uninterrupted publication of 41 issues and 4 special editions. We are pleased to invite you to read Issue 41 of LAJED Magazine. We are confident that reading it will provide valuable insights for the development of Bolivia and the region.
