Editorial policy

LAJED’s editorial policies establish the principles and procedures governing manuscript submission, evaluation, publication, integrity, and dissemination. Essential information should be readable directly on the website. Complete official documents and forms should remain available under “Documents and Forms”.

EDITORIAL POLICY

Defines the journal’s scope, sections, submission requirements, peer review and decision process, integrity criteria, use of artificial intelligence, data availability, preprints, open access, rights, and self-archiving. Full document: Editorial Policy.

PUBLICATION ETHICS AND GOOD PRACTICES

Sets out the ethical responsibilities of the Editorial Team, reviewers, and authors; addresses confidentiality, conflicts of interest, appeals and complaints, editorial independence, and post-publication measures in accordance with COPE guidance. Full document: Publication Ethics and Good Practices Statement.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

LAJED uses double-blind peer review. Manuscripts that pass editorial pre-screening undergo internal peer review and, when applicable, external peer review. Review reports inform the editorial decision; final responsibility for the decision rests with the Editorial Team. See also: Evaluation / Editorial Process.

CONFLICTS OF INTEREST

Authors must declare the existence or absence of conflicts of interest through the Good Practices Commitment. Reviewers and members of the Editorial Team must also disclose and manage any conflict that could affect, or reasonably be perceived as affecting, their objectivity and independence.

USE OF GENERATIVE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Authors must explicitly declare the use or non-use of generative AI through the Good Practices Commitment. AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Reviewers must not use generative AI to conduct the scientific evaluation or upload confidential manuscript content. Substantive editorial decisions must always be based on human judgment. Full document: Policy on the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence.

OPEN ACCESS

LAJED provides immediate and free open access, with no embargo and no charges to readers. It does not charge submission, evaluation, editorial processing, or publication fees (APC = 0). Articles are distributed under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license. See: Open Access.

COPYRIGHT AND LICENSING

Authors retain the moral rights applicable to their works. Ownership of economic rights over accepted articles is governed by the Intellectual Property Regulations of the Universidad Católica Boliviana “San Pablo”. Articles may be shared and self-archived in accordance with the Editorial Policy and the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.

DATA AVAILABILITY AND REPRODUCIBILITY

For empirical articles, authors must state the status of the data used in the Good Practices Commitment: public sources, repository deposit, availability upon justified request, applicable restrictions, or other relevant conditions. For works without empirical data, “Not applicable” should be indicated. Data access remains subject to applicable legal, ethical, and confidentiality restrictions.

PREPRINTS AND SELF-ARCHIVING

LAJED accepts manuscripts previously disseminated as preprints or working papers when this is declared, the work has not been published as a peer-reviewed article, and it is not under simultaneous consideration elsewhere. LAJED permits self-archiving of submitted, accepted, and final published versions on non-commercial academic platforms without an embargo period.

ADVERTISING AND DIRECT MARKETING POLICY

LAJED does not accept paid commercial advertising. Editorial calls, academic announcements, and institutional information are not considered commercial advertising. Manuscript solicitation must be truthful, relevant, and free from pressure tactics or indiscriminate mass messaging. Sponsors and funders have no authority over editorial decisions. Full document: Advertising and Direct Marketing Policy.

CORRECTIONS, EXPRESSIONS OF CONCERN AND RETRACTIONS

LAJED protects the integrity of the scholarly record through corrections or errata, expressions of concern, and retractions when appropriate, according to the nature and seriousness of the issue and in line with COPE guidance. Post-publication actions should be transparently linked to the affected article.

PRIVACY STATEMENT

Personal data entered in the journal are used exclusively for academic, editorial, and administrative purposes. Manuscripts, data, review reports, and other information obtained during the editorial process are treated confidentially. See: Privacy Statement.
