SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES

Scientific articles are original contributions aimed at producing, testing, or extending economic and social knowledge on the basis of a clearly defined research question, an appropriate methodology, and evidence supporting the study’s results and conclusions.

Expected elements include:

  • An introduction that contextualizes the research problem, states the research question and objectives, and establishes the study’s relevance and contribution.
  • A relevant, up-to-date, and organized literature review.
  • A methodology appropriate to the research question and objectives, described with sufficient clarity.
  • A results section presenting the main findings clearly.
  • A discussion interpreting the results in light of the research question and relevant literature.
  • Conclusions that answer the research question and, where appropriate, present implications, limitations, and future research directions.

DISCUSSION ARTICLES

Discussion articles are academic contributions aimed at the critical analysis, interpretation, and discussion of relevant economic and social issues on the national, regional, or international agenda. They must begin with a clearly defined research question that gives direction to the analysis and makes the article’s objective and contribution identifiable.

Expected elements include:

  • An introduction that presents and contextualizes the issue, states the research question, and establishes the objective, relevance, and contribution.
  • A relevant, up-to-date, and sufficiently developed literature review.
  • A methodology or analytical strategy appropriate to the nature of the article and the research question; this may include systematic or narrative reviews, bibliometric or documentary analysis, descriptive or comparative methods, case studies, fieldwork, data analysis, theoretical or empirical models, or other duly justified procedures.
  • An analysis and discussion section that critically examines the evidence and connects the arguments with the relevant literature.
  • Conclusions that synthesize the main arguments and findings and explicitly answer the research question.

Discussion articles must not exceed 20% of the total number of publications in each issue.
